TERLINGUA

$838.89

30x40” acrylic and modeling clay on stretched canvas.
As part of my TERRA series, I’m exploring natural pigments found in Texas, along with the textures of the earth in hot climates.

In TERLINGUA specifically, I used a clay/sand/mud palette, and heavily textured the piece in different ways. The palette is just like what you’d find in the ghost town of the same name in West Texas.

The sand colored area of the piece looks like cracked sandstone, the middle section like clay that is held together in clumps, and the grey section is carved like a zen garden made with hardened mud. The piece altogether has a variety of textures that make it easy toget lost in the little details when looking at it.
